Wooramel River Retreat is looking for an experienced adventurous cook for the station stays unique Australian Outback café.
Focusing on an authentic menu, producing traditional quality meals with a contemporary twist whilst taking advantage of being in the Gascoyne’s food bowl. Wooramel is known for its open fire pits/ smoked meat and camp ovens meals guests enjoying a memorable outback food experience.
Exciting new commercial kitchen and cafe facilities.
Singles and Couples encouraged to apply as other hospitality roles available (HK / FD).
This rewarding “live in” role, offers a unique experience in outback living, suited to those able to live and work within a small team. Weekly wage including free accommodation & meals will be offered.
Applicants must be able to commit for the 2022 tourist season to mid/end of October 2022
About Us
Wooramel River Retreat (WRR) is one hours drive south of Carnarvon in WA, the station stay accommodation and nature park consists of 120 van sites, 9 rooms, 4 eco cabin tents and a multi-tent school camp spread over 15 acres along the Wooramel River. Our season runs from March to December with the winter months being our peak season. The Park being only 2kms off the Northwest coastal Highway and at the doorstep to 2 world heritage listed areas gets a high turnover of short-term guests.
The retreat offers guests a unique outback bush camping experience with a taste of genuine outback hospitality they come to enjoy nature, our naturally heated artesian baths, bush walks, self-driven 4WD tracks, campfires under the stars and our new outback style café.
What we’re looking for
· The ability to contribute creative flair to the menu while demonstrating consistent menu creation.
A true passion for high-quality food and delivering the best standards of customer service, ensuring our guests leave us with lasting memories
Demonstrated creative cooking style with a strong emphasis on quality, presentation and innovation
· Previous experience and cooking in a similar environment or cookery certificate.
· Excellent communication skills
· Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
· Ability to prep and organise weekly food orders utilising local available produce.
· Experience to ensure the kitchen complies with sanitation regulations and safety standards
· Previous experience in outdoor cooking over fire pits/ in camp ovens and smoking desirable.
Fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (including booster)
Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
Current Drivers Licence.
