Job Description
Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated citrus operations located in Emerald and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill 1 citrus supervisor position at their farming site, with work commencing from March 2025 onwards.
You are required to work in a farming environment where you will be primarily supervising workers both indoors and outdoors. You will be exposed to different kinds of weather from sun, rain, winds, heat etc. therefore are required to be fit and strong enough to withstand these conditions.
You will be paid under the Agri Labor Australia Horticulture Agreement 2016 – Level 5, at an hourly rate of $35 per hour, with a minimum of 120 hours of work over 4 weeks. This will be aligned with the Fair Work Commission’s annual reviews, including any increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay. You will be offered between 5-9 months of work with potential to upskill.
Key duties include:
* Supervisor citrus picking candidates in Dimbulah and Emerald on a citrus farm.
* Oversee and coordinate teams of citrus pickers, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to quality standards.
* Provide clear instructions, training, and ongoing support to team leaders and workers.
* Monitor worker performance, address any issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
* Assist in resolving conflicts and maintaining a positive work environment.
* Enforce workplace safety policies and ensure all workers adhere to WH&S regulations.
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper handling of fruit and compliance with quality control standards.
* Report workplace incidents, injuries, and compliance issues to management promptly.
* Ensure workers have access to appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and follow hygiene protocols.
Characteristics and Aptitudes:
* Comfortable working in an outdoor environment
* Good communication skills and able to follow instructions
* No asthma or dust allergies
* Live locally or be happy to relocate to Emerald
* Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out intensive labour duties
* Comfortable working in various weather conditions
* Able to follow directions and work unsupervised whilst showing high levels of initiative
* A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
