Job Description

We’re looking for experienced Machinery Operators to support vegetable harvest operations in Parilla, SA. If you have a background in large machinery operations and agricultural production, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s key agricultural sectors.

What You’ll Do:

As a Machine Operator, you’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Operating and controlling agricultural machinery such as chaser bins, harvesters, loaders, sprayers, and tractors to clear, sow, spray, and harvest crops
  • Attaching and detaching implements and equipment to machinery for fieldwork and harvesting operations
  • Monitoring and adjusting the speed, height, and depth of implements to ensure optimal performance and crop protection
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs on machinery and notifying supervisors of any malfunctions
  • Inspecting crops to assess yield and harvest suitability
  • Directing and coordinating the work of bin chaser drivers, truck drivers, and the harvest crew
  • Maintaining accurate logs and records in line with company procedures
  • Participating in operational planning with agricultural technicians, the harvest team, and packing production managers to ensure efficient operations
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures to achieve business objectives

Your Skills and Experience:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in operating large-scale machinery in an agricultural or horticultural setting
  • Mechanical knowledge, with the ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs
  • Experience in farm management or horticultural operations is highly desirable
  • Your own reliable transport
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
